Common Myths About Spray Foam Insulation Debunked Part 2

Spray foam insulation in Houston is highly misunderstood.

When it comes insulation for your home, you have so many options to choose from, but one of the best is certainly spray foam insulation. Although spray foam insulation is a great option, it’s highly misunderstood, and part of the reason for this is that there are many myths and misconceptions about it. In our latest post, we debunked a couple of those myths. Keep reading to learn the truth about more spray foam insulation myths:

Myth #3. Fiberglass is just as good as spray foam insulation.

Many people think that fiberglass is just as good, if not better, than spray foam insulation because of the claim that it has a high R-Value. R-Value is how thermal resistance is measured, and while thermal resistance is an important part of insulation, it’s also important to account for moisture and air flow. Spray foam insulation does a better job at preventing both moisture and air from getting in your walls, which makes it superior to fiberglass.

Myth #4. Spray foam insulation is incredibly expensive.

While it’s true that spray foam insulation is a bigger investment than many other insulation options, you’ll recover the costs in no time with energy savings. Houses that are insulated with spray foam lose up to 50 percent less air than homes that aren’t insulated with spray foam. Not only does this save you energy, it may also help you qualify for state and federal tax deductions.

Myth #5. Spray foam insulation is harmful for your health.

While it’s true that heavy protection is required while the spray foam insulation is being mixed and sprayed, once it dries, it is a completely non-toxic, highly effective insulation option.
