Tips for a More Efficient Home

Would you like to make your home more efficient?

No one wants to pay more for their utility bills than necessary, and luckily, there are many things that you can do to make your home more efficient. One of the best things that you can do is to install spray foam insulation in your home, but there are lots of other easy ways to improve the efficiency in your home. The following is a list from our insulation contractor in Houston of a few tips for a more efficient home:

#1. Replace your windows.

If you have single pane windows or windows with aluminum frames, cool air could be leaking out of your home right from under your nose. This can be easily fixed by replacing those single pane windows with double pane windows and those aluminum frames with vinyl frames.

#2. Use LEDs or CFLs instead of incandescent bulbs.

Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) can last for up to 10 times longer than your typical incandescent bulbs, plus they use 75 percent less energy! LEDs are also a great option because they can last up to three to five times longer than even CFLs.

#3. Reseal your windows and doors.

It is common for cool air to escape through the bottom of doors, and if you want to fix it, all you need to do is install a door sweep at the bottom of your doors. It is also a good idea to install fresh caulk on your windows.
